Why Siam
What You Can Expect When You Work With Us
No surprises, no pressure, and nothing done without your knowledge. Here is a plain account of how we approach watch care and what that means for you.

Six Things That Matter to Our Clients
Open Record of Work
A written service record accompanies every watch returned from the workshop. You see what was found, what was done, and what was noted — not a summary produced after the fact.
Agreement Before Action
If an inspection reveals something beyond the agreed service scope, we stop and discuss it with you before any further work begins. Nothing additional is carried out without your say-so.
Realistic Timelines
We give honest estimates at intake — not the answer that sounds reassuring. If something changes, you are told promptly. We do not hold a watch without notice.
Thorough Mechanical Focus
Siam works on mechanical movements — the kind that reward proper care over time. We do not take on battery changes or quartz servicing; our attention stays where our knowledge is deepest.
Photographic Documentation
For restoration work, photographs are taken at intake, during the service, and at completion. You receive these with the returned piece — a visual record alongside the written one.
12-Month Service Warranty
Work completed at Siam is covered for 12 months. If an issue related to the serviced function develops within that period, bring the watch back and we will look at it without charge.
Expertise
Mechanical Knowledge Accumulated Over Time
The watchmaker leading Siam's service bench has worked with mechanical movements for over two decades, across a wide range of manufacturers and calibres. This breadth of experience is not something that can be replicated quickly — it is the ability to recognise an unusual wear pattern, identify a part that does not behave as it should, and make a decision based on what the movement actually needs rather than a standard procedure.
Restoration work, in particular, draws on this depth. Older movements often have histories that affect how they should be approached — and the judgement to read that history is something we take seriously.
What experience means in practice:
Recognition of movement-specific wear patterns
Sourcing of period-appropriate parts where possible
Knowledge of known weaknesses in specific calibres
Judgement about when to conserve rather than replace
Honest advice about what a watch actually needs
The service record approach:
Intake note — piece received, condition observed, initial observations recorded
Inspection account — what was found during examination, any items for discussion
Work log — each stage of service noted as it is carried out
Timing results — movement performance across positions before return
Collection record — signed at return, copy retained for 12-month warranty reference
Process
A Structured Process That Keeps You Informed
The watchmaker's service ledger is not a new idea — workshops of an earlier generation kept records as a matter of course. We maintain this approach because it is useful: to the person whose watch is being serviced, and to us when a piece returns some years later.
Every watch that passes through the workshop has a record kept from intake to return. This is not a system built around customer relations — it is how proper watchwork is organised and tracked.
Value & Pricing
Transparent Pricing with No Hidden Additions
The prices listed for each service are the standard rates. If an inspection reveals something that changes the scope — a worn part that needs replacement, or a complication that requires additional attention — we will tell you what it is, what it would cost, and leave the decision with you.
There are no charges added without discussion. The price agreed at the start of a service is the price paid, unless scope changes have been discussed and approved.
Standard service rates (฿):
Additional parts or scope are discussed before any additional charge is incurred.

What Sets Us Apart
Distinctive to Siam
The Open Record
Every watch serviced at Siam is accompanied by a written intake note, work log, and timing record. This document travels with the piece and is handed to the owner at collection. It is not filed away internally — it belongs to you and the watch.
Mechanical-Only Focus
We work exclusively on mechanical movements — a deliberate choice that keeps our attention focused. This means we do not take on every piece that arrives; we take on pieces we can serve well.
Plain Language Communication
What we find is described in straightforward terms. We do not use technical language to obscure a decision — if something needs to be replaced or left as it is, we explain why in words that make sense outside the workshop.
Bangkok-Specific Knowledge
The climate in Bangkok — warm, humid, and sometimes extreme in variation — affects mechanical watches differently from temperate environments. We factor this into service advice and discuss appropriate intervals for watches worn regularly here.
